An Independent Medical Clinic
We can help you minimize your health costs in a variety of ways.
Because we are independent, we can offer you the treatment that is best for you without insurance company restrictions on diagnostic methods or treatment modalities. You can be in control of your costs. We will discuss the options that we see for you and the relative cost of each.
Value for Money
As an independent medical clinic, we must work to provide maximum value to our clients/patients. We take pride in providing service people are willing to pay for.
Payment at Time of Service
We require payment at the time of service. This allows us to keep our attention on doing the best we can for you, rather than acting as a bill collector or credit agency. The amount we charge is what it costs to provide top-quality medical care to you.
We will give you the information you need to submit a claim to your insurance company. Click here for assistance. An insurance company considers us to be committing fraud (and rightly so) if our claim form does not accurately reflect what condition we treated you for and what procedures we used. Please expect that the billing information we give you will fairly represent your diagnosis and treatment here.
Your insurance may not cover all your costs at our clinic because:
- Extended time required to solve difficult medical problems may not be covered in full.
- Research time is never covered.
- Nutritional injections are almost never covered.
- Certain tests for nutritional or physiologic function may not be covered.
- Weight loss services are usually not covered.
- Telephone consultations are not covered.
- Preventive services are frequently not covered.
Medicare and other governmental programs
To maintain the freedom to practice medicine the best we can, we have had to separate ourselves from managed care companies and all governmental insurance. Medicare regulations require and encourage a style of medical practice that I will not participate in. We do not participate in Medicare.
Those in the government who believe that "health care should be a right" consider it fraud for you to come to us and purchase medical services outside the system if you are covered by Medicare. The only way we can insure ourselves against legal action by the government is for you to sign an agreement to acknowledge that you are purchasing medical services from us on a private basis. Click here to see a copy of that agreement. We require all our patients, even those under 65, to sign this agreement to protect us against legal action. See our Insurance Answers page to learn why.
We do not participate in managed care programs. If you are enrolled in such a program, you may not wish to engage our services except when we can provide something they can't. We are happy to work in conjunction with your managed care physician and to coordinate your care with them to minimize your out-of-pocket expense. We ended our managed care contracts in 1998 for good reasons.
